Jem, Scout, and Dill are very upset about the guilty verdict for Tom
Atticus assure them it is not time to worry; he is planning an appeal
Members of the African American community leaves gifts (mostly food) for Atticus to show their appreciation for his defense of Tom - Atticus appreciates it but says times are too tough for them to leave such gifts again
Miss Maudie tries to comfort the children and help them understand what a good man Atticus is
Mr. Ewell spits in Atticus' face when he sees him in town

the children are scared for their father's safety
Atticus is still planning an appeal for Tom
Atticus tries to explain the racism that took place during Tom's trial
Atticus wants his children to treat all people well, regardless of race
Aunt Alexandra continues to think of herself and her family as better than poor families like the Cunninghams
Aunt Alexandra wants to turn Scout into a lady - Scout is not at all interested

The final will be in short essay format, uploaded it to www.turnitin.com, and will be posted on May 13th. You will have until midnight on May 15th to complete it and upload it. It is up to you and your parents whether or not you take the final. It can only raise your grade, but not lower it.
Chance for an extra Vocab. Quiz Grade:
Take the words from Unit #11 in the Vocabulary Book. Use each word in an original sentence of your own creation. Obviously the word should be used correctly. There should be a total of 20 sentences. Please do not try to combine multiple words into a single sentence. This will count as a Vocabulary Quiz grade. Email this to me at [email protected]. This is due by midnight on Tuesday, May 5th
