Chapter Twenty Five - Things to highlight/make note of:
Jem is struggling with his emotions after the trial - he's snippy with Scout
Dill has to leave until next summer
Jem and Dill go with Atticus when he has to tell Helen about Tom
Jem retells it to Scout, saying Helen just collapsed when she heard the news
The town is only briefly interested in Tom's death
Mr. Underwood publishes an editorial that basically says Tom never had a chance
Chapter Twenty Six:
Jem is in the 7th grade and Scout is in the 3rd grade
Scout still wonders about Boo
Atticus is reelected to the state legislature
Scout learns about Hitler, dictatorship, and democracy in school
Scout heard her teacher saying terrible things about Tom because he was black, but in the classroom, she says that the Jews should not be persecuted - Scout doesn't understand why she discriminates against one group but not another
When Scout asks Jem about it, he tells her he never wants to hear about the court case again
Atticus explains to Scout that Jem is having a tough time
